Due to the generosity of Holly Hill and Providence Park residents, HHNA have decided to do another appeal this year. The charity we have chosen to support again is the domestic violence charity for women and children called ‘Refuge’. Below is a letter from the charity explaining the work that they do.
Domestic abuse can affect anyone at any point in their life and often women are left with no choice but to leave everything they have and come into refuge. When the women come in to the Refuge, they have to leave their entire lives behind, including family and friends. They cannot tell anyone where they are or go visiting for fear of being found, this means that at times such as Christmas they find themselves isolated and lonely, a small gift just for them that shows someone is thinking of them really helps them to find some joy. Whilst we do our best to keep things ‘normal’ we rely on the generosity of the communities around us to help us to ensure that no child or woman is forgotten or not made to feel special at Christmas.
Thank you so much for considering us as part of your fundraising, each child, their mothers and us as support workers are grateful to be able to receive such generosity and kindness, it really does make a difference.
Thankyou
